System slowness

Internet connection

If you are experiencing system slowness, it may be due to a faulty internet connection.
To diagnose this, please follow the steps below:

  1. If you're logged into Citrix/ DPS One Office, minimise this or log out entirely.

  2. On your local desktop, open a web browser and then navigate to Internet speed test.

  3. On the webpage, click Go.

Note: The minimum download speed should be 10mbps. Anything lower will cause slowness and disconnect within your citrix session. If this speed is fine, conduct the ping test below.

Response time

  1. Outside of Citrix/ DPS, at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen, click on the Start button.

  2. Type in cmd and then click Command Prompt.

  3. In the command prompt screen, type ping www.google.com -t and on your keyboard hit Enter.

  4. Let the command run for about a minute or so.

  5. You'll see multiple columns which say reply from, bytes, time, and TTL. Review the number in ms. If this time is higher than 50ms, even for one single line, this is most likely causing the issue for you.

If you have followed the above steps and your internet speed is higher than 10mbps and your ping test shows less than 50ms, please raise a new case online and reference the title of this article. Within your case, please include:

  • Symptoms of slowness.

  • How many people are having the same issue and who.

  • When this started happening.

  • Any errors or messages you may have received when the system slows down.

Once we have received your case, our technical support team will be in touch as soon as possible.
