Check an Existing Client Bank Nominal

You might find it helpful to view an existing bank first to see how it has been set up.

  1. In DPS Financial Director (FD), click Nominal Ledger, then click Nominal Accounts.

  2. If the bank has a zero balance, tick Show Zero Nominals so it appears in the list.

  3. Double-click the relevant bank nominal to open it.

  4. Review how the nominal is set up (for example Branch, Account Ref, Description, Currency, and Type).

Tip: Take a screenshot of the existing bank nominal if it helps you mirror the setup. You will also need to decide on a new, unique Account Ref for the bank you are creating.

Create a New Client Bank Nominal

  1. In DPS Financial Director (FD), click Nominal Ledger, then click Nominal Accounts.

  2. Click New to create a new nominal account.

  3. Complete the key fields for your new client bank nominal:

    • Select the Branch.

    • Enter the new Account Ref (this must be unique).

    • Enter a Description.

    • Select the Currency.

  4. Click Balance Sheet.

  5. Under Type, select Client Bank.

  6. Click Save.

Your new client bank nominal is now available to use when posting client payments and receipts.

Set the Default Client Bank

If you want the new bank to be the default bank that appears automatically when you select a client payment or receipt:

  1. In DPS Financial Director (FD), click Tools, then click Default Nominals.

  2. Find Default Client Bank in the list.

  3. Enter or select the newly created client bank nominal.

  4. Click Save.

Next time you select a client payment or receipt, the bank will automatically default to the new client bank nominal.

If you do not change the default bank, the existing default will remain. You can still manually select the bank you want to use each time you post a client payment or receipt.
