In order to add a branch in DPS, you will need to access the DPSSQLConfig File which is housed within the root of DPS or may have been placed as a short-cut on your desktop.

Adding the Branch

To add a branch, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the DPSSQLConfig file. The first screen presented is where you will see details of your particular Branch or Branches, once they have been set-up in DPS.

  2. Click on the Company Tab at the bottom left, then select Branches from the panel on the left and then click the Add button to the top right.

  3. This will open up a secondary window called New Branch, which has two tabs at the top labelled. Select Main Details and complete the required information.

  4. Click on OK and your newly added Branch will be added to the list.

Default Nominals

The next stage is to set-up your default nominal codes for the Branch that you have just added to DPS via the config file by following the steps below:

  1. Enter DPS OneOffice.

  2. Click the Tools Tab and select Default Nominals. This will open up a new tab under Default Nominals and here you will see the standard default set-up for your nominal structure.

  3. Open the Branch drop down to view your branch or branches that you have newly added in the config file. Select your branch from the list.

  4. An alert will pop-up informing you that the default nominal are not set-up for your branch and if you would like the system to automatically set them up now. Click Yes to continue with the default nominal set-up.

  5. Depending on how many branches you have, the default nominals will choose the lead number of your Branch; for example 8, and combine it with the standardised remaining code for the nominal in question. So, if your Branch is set as 8 then this will combine with your nominal code like this: Retained Profit: 8.7100. If the Branch was the seventh to be added then the nominal code would be: Retained Profit: 7.7100 and so on.

  6. Your branch should now be set-up in the Default Nominals.

  7. Once you are happy with the default set-up, click on the Save. These nominals will now be available to post against are listed under the Nominal Leger tab in Nominal Accounts. The Nominal Accounts contain all of the default nominal accounts set-up and any other remaining nominal codes. Your branch will be listed alongside your nominal to the left.
