If you step away from your computer, Windows may go into hibernation mode. This can turn off the hard drive and cut off the internet, which logs you out of Citrix. You can prevent this by changing your power settings. Complete these steps outside of Citrix.

Increase the time before the computer sleeps or hibernates

Start by setting how long your computer waits before it sleeps.

  1. Click the Start button, which is the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner.

  2. Type Power & Sleep Settings.

  3. Click Power & Sleep Settings from the results.

  4. Under Screen, choose how long you want the screen to stay on.

  5. Under Sleep, choose how long you want the computer to wait before going to sleep:

    • For example, change it from 15 minutes to 1 hour.

    • You can also select Never if appropriate.

Stop the hard drive from turning off

Next, stop Windows turning off the hard drive when your computer is idle.

📌Note: If you use Windows 11, you may need to click Related settings first to find Additional power settings.

  2. Next to your selected power plan, click Change plan settings.

  3. Click Change advanced power settings.

  4. In the new window, click the + next to Hard disk.

  5. Click the + next to Turn off hard disk after.
