There is no need to amend each individual ledger to reflect the bank, where historic transactions were posted. A Bank Journal for the entire balance (Less any pending transactions i.e unpresented cheques), of the old bank, can be transferred to the new bank. Any remaining unreconciled cheques, can still be matched off of the bank reconciliation on the old bank after this journal has taken place and the new bank is the new default.

To action a journal, please follow the steps below.

  1. From the DPS Home Screen, click Nominal Ledger.

  2. Click Journals.

  3. Enter the relevant details for the debiting bank, then click Add Item.

  4. Enter the relevant details for the crediting bank, then click Add Item.

  5. The journal should have a balance of 0.00, if so, then click Post.

You can set the new bank to be the default bank on posting by following the steps below:

  1. From the DPS Home Screen, click Tools.

  2. Click Default Nominals.

  3. Select the relevant branch then, amend the Default Client/Office bank to the new bank nominal.

  4. Click Save.

Please be mindful to move the physical money between bank accounts when performing bank-to-bank journals. Also think about amending any templates to reflect the new account number i.e. Bill templates, quoting the bank account to pay.
